You know what they say, the storm has hit us all. Ondoy and Pepeng ravaged our nation and our differences vanished — no rich or poor, no sosyal or jologs, no celebrities or ordinary people. We all became one — victims of nature’s fury. We became one nation at the mercy of the typhoons which brought misery and destruction.
Yes, the storms have hit us all. That’s true even for telecommunication companies like Globe. Along with the houses and roads devastated by Ondoy and Pepeng, Globe Telecom was not spared by the disasters as our facilities in the affected areas were heavily damaged.

But like how we fell, we showed the world we could stand up united — as one. We picked ourselves up and helped others do the same. Together, we proved we are one mighty people and no disaster can bring us down.
Globe is also one with the nation in helping our country recover. Thus, we bring you Bangon Pinoy!

With Bangon Pinoy, Globe introduces a roster of activities to help people, families and its business partners who lost much during the typhoons and who are striving mightily to rebuild their homes and enterprises. Thus the program combines rebates to affected subscribers, community-rebuilding activities with Globe employee volunteers, and ongoing network repairs to improve and restore service to all users.
The icon of Bangon Pinoy is the Bangon Pinoy truck, which will ply routes in affected areas, bearing the promise of relief, financial assistance, and network rehabilitation.
Following are the components of Bangon Pinoy:
A. GLOBE NETWORK STATUS AND REHABILITATION UPDATE
• Globe engineers have been working around the clock since September 26 to bring back services to affected areas including:
o Metro Manila
o Bulacan
o Laguna
o Rizal
o Bulacan
o Nueva Ecija
o Pampanga
o Tarlac
o Pangasinan
o Baguio
o Cagayan
• Mobile cellsites on wheels were deployed in densely-populated areas, while other existing sites were provisioned to handle the load from damaged sites.
• Over 100 cabinets are currently being repaired and will be restored on or before November 15.
• As of October 14, Globe has restored the following facilities:
o 97% of wireless network and 88% of broadband network affected by Ondoy
o 48% of wireless network and 90% of broadband network affected by Pepeng
• Rehabilitation efforts will continue until 100% service availability is reached.
To repair damage caused by Ondoy, Globe will spend an estimated P 44Million to repair its mobile network and upwards of P 104Million for its broadband network. While the full extent of damage wreaked by Pepeng is still being scoped, repairs are well underway to restore service to affected subscribers.
B. CONSUMER REBATES AND SPECIAL OFFERS
As goodwill to subscribers who were affected during the typhoons, Globe will provide the following:

C. BUSINESS ASSISTANCE TO COOPERATIVE AND GLOBE LOAD RETAILERS
• Grants and Partnerships. Bangon Pinoy will work with cooperatives in North Luzon for possible grants and partnerships towards rebuilding efforts and to bring local industries back on track.
• Support for Retailers. To help its retailers, sub-dealers and distributors in affected parts of Rizal and Marikina to recover losses, Globe will spend nearly P 1.3M to introduce special assistance packages providing free replacement Retailer SIMs and handsets, along with new SIM stocks for selling to replace any lost in the floods. Distributors will get further discounts on their stock orders, which the distributors can extend down the line to their sub-dealers and retailers within their areas.
For other areas that may have been affected, Globe is scoping specific needs and will endeavor to build short- and long-term programs to help trade channels rebuild their business.
D. COMMUNITY-REBUILDING ACTIVITIES
• In fulfillment of Globe’s duty to help rebuild communities that suffered through the typhoons, the Bangon Pinoy truck will visit different areas to bring relief and support.
October 16: Bangon Pinoy visits Gawad Kalinga Camacho in Marikina to help clean and bring order back to households and businesses in the area
October 19: Bangon Pinoy visits devastated schools in Pasig and Marikina to restore their broadband internet connections and bring new computers for the students’ and faculty’s use.
October 29: Bangon Pinoy visits flood-ridden North Luzon areas to work with local cooperatives and provide capacity-building and financial assistance to rebuild local enterprises.
November 6: Bangon Pinoy distributes farm implements in its Globe-Gawad Kalinga Bayan Anihan farms in Luzon; Globe employee volunteers come along to help plant for a new harvest.
November 19: Bangon Pinoy visits Baguio City schools to bring new chairs, tables and books; Bangon Pinoy also begins the construction of a 2-classroom building for the students and faculty .
*Note: Activity Dates are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
Globe has partnered with local government units and church groups in Metro Manila and North Luzon locations, to put up stations offering free calls, free internet and free phone charging services for residents in those areas.

Community rebuilding activities will cost an estimated P 4.4Million to be shouldered by Globe.
• Twitter Campaign. Bangon Pinoy will also bring technology to bear by enabling web users to reach out in cyberspace. In October, top bloggers and internet users will rally to make a difference by volunteering in the cleanup and tweeting updates, with Globe donating P 1 per tweet to flood victims. Bangon Pinoy projects up to P400k raised through this effort.
• Globe Bridging Communities. Since September 26, Globe’s corporate social responsibility program Globe Bridging Communities has provided relief packages to 17,000 families in Marikina, Rizal, Muntinlupa, Laguna and Pangasinan.
